The Expat Journal
The Expat Journal started as a private notebook — a place to put down the things I noticed when I arrived in Medellín and didn’t quite know how to say out loud. The altitude. The light in the late afternoon. The specific loneliness of a Sunday in a city that isn’t yours yet.
Over time, the notebook became a journal, and the journal became this. I write for travellers who want to stay longer than a week, for expats in the middle of the messy middle part of relocating, and for curious readers anywhere who have ever wondered what it actually feels like to make a home somewhere new. Colombia is the base, but the journal goes wherever the story does.
Everything here is first-person, slow, and as honest as I can make it. No listicles, no hotel reviews, no affiliate links. Just the writing.
